Interest in HSE's new bachelor’s programme with the University of London – a double degree programme in Data Science and Business Analytics – has been extremely high. James Abdey, programme convenor, spoke to HSE News Service about how the programme is unique, demand on the job market and the advantages that the double degree gives its graduates.

The HSE Faculty of Physics and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) have reached an agreement on a joint partnership. From the beginning of the next academic year, students from the faculty will be able to carry out internships at the institute’s various research laboratories.

The HSE Summer University is off to a strong start this year, and one of its programmes – the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) in Mathematics – has already been met with considerable enthusiasm by participating students. Designed for undergraduate students majoring in Mathematics or related areas, participants work on research projects under the supervision of distinguished mathematicians.

The football world championship, held in Russia in 2018, gave students of Russian universities the opportunity to participate in the organization of one of the world’s largest international events. A student and a graduate from HSE’s master’s programme  ‘Governance of Science, Technology and Innovation’ told the news service about their experience at FIFA and how HSE helped them to work in international teams.

When a classroom is well-organized, children not only feel comfortable, but also learn more effectively. Ways to create such a space were discussed at the research seminar ‘Design of educational spaces’, which was held at the Center of Leadership Development in Education at HSE’s Institute of Education on July 12-13.

Dmitry Abbakumov is the first researcher from a Russian university to present their work at the Psychometric Society conference, founded in 1935. He told the HSE new service about his study of online learning and why Russia has not played a major role on the international psychometrics scene – until now.

Scientists from Higher School of Economics and the Federal Scientific Research Centre ‘Crystallography and Photonics’ have synthesized multi-layered nanowires in order to study their magnetoresistance properties. Improving this effect will allow scientists to increase the accuracy of indicators of various measuring instruments, such as compasses and radiation monitors.

The 10th International Symposium of Overseas Indonesian Students Association Alliance (OISAA) will take place from July 23–26 at HSE’s Moscow campus. The event has brought together opinion leaders, experts and students from Russia and Southeast Asia to discuss the role of young Indonesians in the development of Indonesia in the fields of education, culture, tourism and healthcare.
