On April 3rd, 2012, Justin Yifu Lin, Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of the World Bank, gave an honorary lecture at the HSE as part of the XIII April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development.

Virtual Trip to Real Alps

A series of meetings for students and teachers as part of the lecture course on ‘European Civilizations’ is currently taking place at the HSE Nizhny Novgorod Austrian Library. On February 20th a lecture on ‘Austria in the European Context’ was given by Ursula Maurich, Expert for bilateral cooperation at the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture.

On December 16th 2011, a roundtable discussion summarizing a cycle of open lectures by Kadri Jamil, Professor at the Institute for Socio-Economic Development Planning in Damascus, on the current political situation in Syria and other Middle Eastern countries, took place at the HSE School of Asian Studies.

From November 6th – 26th the HSE Faculty of Management again welcomed Wesley Johnston, Professor at Georgia State University (USA) who this time came to Moscow funded by the Fulbright Senior Specialist programme. The Ambassador of Austria to Russia, Dr. Margot Klestil-Löffler, opened an Austrian Library at the HSE

Austria, country of paradoxes, very small geographically but very big culturally, home of Mozart, Freud and Rilke, is now linked to Nizhny Novgorod. On November 28th 2011, an Austrian Library was opened in the HSE building in Nizhny Novgorod, becoming the fourth Austrian cultural and educational center in Russia.
