Friend of HSE
This prize is awarded to individuals who are not employed at HSE but whose long-term cooperation has considerably impacted the University’s development (except for charity and advisory support for HSE and decision-making as part of an executive office).
Silver Nestling
This prize is awarded to current HSE students and schoolchildren of the HSE Secondary School and secondary school classes for outstanding achievements in studies and research, interesting papers, a proactive attitude, and achievements in self-development.
Nomination of candidates for these prizes has already begun. You can nominate your candidate through November 14 on the Golden HSE website. Self-nomination is traditionally not allowed, but those looking to avoid attention are able to withdraw their own names from consideration.
With the exception of the ‘Silver Nestling’, ‘Friend of HSE’, and ‘HSE Lyceum Teaching Success’ categories, candidates may be nominated by subdivisions and student organizations, as well as groups of at least three HSE employees.
Award within the Award
One more prize will be given as part of the Golden HSE Award, as it was done last year. Together with Elsevier Publishing House (the Netherlands), the ‘Golden Reference’ award has been organized for HSE staff with high citation indices for papers published in the Scopus database. The winners will be selected by a jury consisting of experts from HSE and Elsevier.
Jury
Unlike the categories, the selection procedure has seen considerable changes recently.
The stages have stayed the same. First, nominees are selected, and then laureates are selected out of them. What is new is who will do this selection of winners.
A Big Jury will select a short list of candidates in most categories. The Big Jury will include four representatives from each HSE faculty in Moscow, the HSE Secondary School, and regional campuses. Faculty deans, campus directors, and Secondary School directors will choose these representatives from their respective departments. The Big Jury will select the winners in the ‘Silver Nestling’ and ‘Friend of HSE’ right away.
Importantly, the Jury can’t include staff members who have been nominated for the award this year.
The winners will be selected by the Competition Committee, which will be appointed by the HSE Rector.
The awards ceremony will take place in early December. The place and time of the ceremony have not yet been announced.
